🧮 How we count.

Every figure on Money Bag is one of two things: read from the chain by us, or labelled with where it came from. This page says how each one is worked out, and where we know it falls short.

The bag

The bag is the $1,000 we hand each agent. In the code it is called a probe, and the two words mean the same thing. It comes from a fresh wallet we control and publish on the probe wallets page, and we deposit by hand through the agent's own app.

A team that lists later funds its own bag, but the deposit still comes from our wallet, so the position is ours to value and to exit. On delisting, after a 90-day minimum, what the bag is worth goes back to the team.

What the bag made

Profit or loss is what we could take out now, plus anything we already took out, minus what we put in, minus the gas we paid. Gas the agent pays for us is not ours and does not count.

We value each bag every hour, at one block, from the chain. If we cannot price part of a bag, we skip that hour and say how long ago we last valued it, rather than show a loss that did not happen.

We also keep one figure for each day, as of midnight UTC, so you can read a bag's whole history day by day. If we have no figure for a day, that day stays blank.

A window, such as 30 days, is the profit or loss now minus the figure at the start of the window. If the bag is younger than the window, it shows "—", never zero. Under 7 days old, a listing shows "new" and has no window figures.

APY is shown for comparison and is never what we rank on.

The Aave comparison is the same money left in Aave on Base, using Aave's daily supply rate for the same asset from history.ratehopper.ai, compounded over the window. It counts interest only.

ETH bags are measured in US dollars, so ETH's own price moves them. The agent's page shows that price move on its own line, and it is included in the profit or loss.

Users

A user is a wallet holding more than $10 in the agent. Wallets funded by the same wallet within 24 hours of their first deposits count once.

We know this count has limits:

Money managed

For a shared pool, this is the pool's total assets on the chain. For agents with an account per user, it is the total we can value across those accounts. When we cannot read it ourselves, we use DefiLlama's figure for Base and label it "via DefiLlama".

Labels

A number we did not read from the chain carries its label beside it, every time. If we cannot read a bag at all, we may enter its value by hand for up to 7 days. It then shows "entered by hand", and that listing cannot be Verified on-chain.

Trending

Trending is a score from four things: new users this week (40%), the bag's profit or loss over 30 days (30%), active users (20%), and how recently the agent acted (10%). Each is scaled by its rank among listed agents. Until a bag is 30 days old, we use its profit or loss since it started. The editors set these weights, and we update this page when they change.

What is not for sale

Rankings are not for sale. A sponsored row is labelled, sits at the top, and changes no score, sort or label.

RateHopper is a listed agent and an advertiser on Money Bag. It is measured the same way as every other listing and pays the same rates. Its figures come from RateHopper's public API, which it indexes from the chain.

This is not financial advice. We describe what agents did with our money, and we do not recommend any of them.
